POSITION: Full Charge Bookkeeper
STATUS: Full Time
JOB LOCATION: Bloomington, MN 55438
HOURS: 8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday
COMPENSATION: $26 - $32 / Hour + Benefits
START: Immediate
Exciting & interesting full-time position available in a small business environment. Palay Display Industries – a 79 year old national store fixture company, has a need in its front offices for a Full Charge Bookkeeper position in West Bloomington, MN.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate up-to-date full-cycle financial records, files, reports and transactions. Perform timely journal entries, adjustments, end-of-month and year-end processes.
- Manage bank tasks including transfers, ACH, wire, credit card, and check payments, bank deposits, daily cash reports, petty cash, credit card charge-backs, and reconciliation.
- Perform accounts payable tasks including inputting vendor invoices, paying vendors according to payment terms, ensuring all bills are paid on time, identifying cost discrepancies, documenting inbound freight, managing open vendor invoices, and new vendor setups. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment status requests.
- Assist accounts receivable with application of customer payments/deposits, receiving ACH, check, and credit card payments, 1099 requests, and filling out customer forms. Provide backup for other accounts receivable areas.
- Manage taxes including new state setups for sales tax collection, reconciling, filing returns, submitting payment, responding to state requests, and reviewing compliance. Assist with customer sales tax exemption form setups, filing, and compliance. Manage estimated federal and state tax payments.
- Maintain internal specialized spreadsheets including prepaid expenses, freight claims, replacement claims, and credit card charge backs.
- Perform payroll tasks including journal entries, documenting, monitoring, and compliance. Utilize 3rd party payroll and 401K providers to enter employee's paid time off, benefits, payroll deductions, and hours. On-board new hires into payroll and benefits, and manage existing employee's benefit changes. Communicate internally benefit updates, and managing annual compliance reports.
- Manage sales commissions including reviewing, adjusting and summing monthly commission reports.
- Assist with budgeting including gathering, inputting information, and assisting in the forecast of expenses.
- Perform general office duties including answering phones, assisting with counter sales, scanning/archiving documents, organizing and filing paperwork, opening mail, ordering supplies, and supporting the sales department.
- Collaborate with internal employees and external 3rd parties to provide accurate information and support decision-making processes including meetings on budgeting, taxes, financials, health insurance, and 401K.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Associate's degree in accounting, bookkeeping, finance or related field.
- 3+ years experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or similar role.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable/receivable principles, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and a general familiarity with various software and online website functions is a plus: (e.g. Avalara, Paypal, Microsoft Office Suite, online banking, payroll, state sales tax websites/online forms)
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player.
